2026 FAIRMONT HIGH SCHOOL FALL SEASON ATHLETIC HIGHLIGHTS

Boys Golf
The boys wrapped up their regular season at the GWOC Tournament on Sept. 23 held at Heatherwoode Golf Club, finishing with a team score of 317 for 3rd place. Ashton Adams and Kayden Alexander were named 1st Team All GWOC, and Zach Landgren was named 2nd Team All GWOC.

The boys team shot a team score of 335 in the SWDAB Sectional Tournament on Sept. 21 at Yankee Trace Golf Course to finish in 4th place and qualify as a TEAM to the District Tournament. The Firebirds shot a team score of 341 and finished in 14th to close out their season. Ashton shot a team low 79.

Girls Golf
The girls wrapped up their regular season at the GWOC Tournament on Sept. 23 held at Heatherwoode Golf Club. The team shot a 432, finishing in 4th place.

In the SWDAB Sectional Tournament held at Echo Hills Golf Club on Sept. 14, the girls finished in 3rd place (out of 15), with a team score of 394, to qualify for the District Tournament. Reese Wilcheck shot a team best 88 for the Firebirds!

In the SWDAB District Tournament on Oct. 6 held at Heatherwoode Golf Club, the girls finished in 14th place, shooting 424, to close out their season. Senior Miah Fuller shot a team best 96 for the Firebirds!

Boys Soccer
The Firebirds finished 3rd in the GWOC (4-2-1, 10-5-3). Freddy Irakoze, Gavin Weaver and Luke Davidson made GWOC First Team. Aaron Black and Carson Dewald made GWOC Second Team. Tresor Shaka and Azariyah Nsabimana were named Special Mention.

The Firebirds (#11) defeated Little Miami (#10) 2 -1 in 2 OT’s on Tuesday, Oct. 27 to advance to the SWDAB District Finals vs Beavercreek @ Bellbrook High School on Saturday, Oct. 31 at noon. The Firebirds defeated Beavercreek 1 - 0 to capture its second consecutive District Championship and first back-to-back District Titles in school history!

The Firebirds played Walnut Hills in the OHSAA Regional Semi-Final on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at Wright State University! The Firebirds won 3-2 to advance to the Regional Final for the first time since 2006. They will take on St. Xavier on Sunday, November 8 at 2:00 pm at Fenwick High School.

Girls Soccer
The girls finished their season 5th in the GWOC (2-2-3, 4-9-4). Natalie Schloneger and Elizabeth Snowden made GWOC First Team. Lucy Bittner and Raina Folck made Second Team GWOC. Avery Fourman received Special Mention.

The Firebirds (#16) traveled to Oak Hills (#6) on Monday, Oct. 26 in the SWDAB District Semi-Finals. The girls fell 3 - 0 to close out their season.

Girls Volleyball
The Firebirds ended the regular season ranked 3rd in the GWOC (10-4, 15-7). Dani Jones and Catherine O’Donnell were named to the GWOC First Team. Allie Amstutz was named to the GWOC Second Team. Aven Riegel and Caitlin Paxson received GWOC Special Mention. Coach O’Donnell was named Co-GWOC Coach of the Year!

The Firebirds (#12) lost to Lakota East (#9) 3 - 1 on Wednesday, Oct. 28 in the SWDAB District Semi-Finals @ Butler High School.

Cross Country
The 2026 GWOC Cross Country Meet was held on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Northmont High School. The Girls Team finished in 5th place. The top runner for the girls was sophomore Lucy Schafer, who finished in 4th place with a time of 18:47. The Boys Team finished in 5th place. The top runner for the boys was Ethan Nartowicz who finished in 18th place with a time of 16:43.

The Firebirds will travel to Troy High School on Saturday, October 31 to compete in the OHSAA Regional Cross Country Meet.

OHSAA Regional Cross Country Meet Results

Girls - The Firebirds finished 14th. Top finisher for the Firebirds was Lucy Schafer, who finished in 8th place with a time of 18:43.70 and qualified to the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships.

Boys - The Firebirds finished 19th. Top finisher for the Firebirds was Ethan Nartowicz, who finished with a time of 16:21.80.

The OHSAA State Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, November 7 at Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park.

Field Hockey
The Firebirds (#7) will travel to Mt. Notre Dame (#2) on Wednesday, Oct. 21st at 6:00 pm for their first round OHSAA Girls Field Hockey Division I District Tournament game. The Firebids fell 8 - 0 to close out their season.

Sara Plants was named First Team SWOFHL. Abigail Stidham was named to the
Second Team SWOFHL. Cadence Hampton was named Honorable Mention SWOFHL.

Girls Tennis
The girls finished 4 - 3 in the GWOC and 8 - 6 overall. They competed in the SWDAB Sectional Tournament on Tuesday, September 29 at Centerville High School to close out their season.

Sara Estrada-Sanchez was named to the GWOC Second Team. Myrna Josey and Riley McCappin were named GWOC Special Mention.

Football
The Firebirds closed out the regular season with a win over Beavercreek on Friday, Oct. 23 to finish with an overall record of 4 - 6 and 3 - 4 in the GWOC.

Logan Doty, Ben Mcilvain and Connor Robinson were named to the GWOC First Team. Damien Pattin, Quin Tulloch, Kolby Wallace, Michael Newsom, and Eric Wade were all named to the GWOC 2nd Team. Davion Porter, Saxon James and Adam Grant were GWOC Special Mention.

The Firebirds finished as the #10 seed (Top 12 qualify) in Region 2 and will travel to #7 Grove City on Friday, Oct. 30 in the first round of the OHSAA Regional Tournament. The Firebirds defeated Grove City 35 - 21 to advance to the second round of the OHSAA State Playoffs!

The Firebirds take on #2 seed Springfield on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 pm at Springfield High School.
