The Fairmont 1st Annual Firebird Olympics is a community-centered track and field experience designed to bring together current student-athletes, middle school programs, alumni, families, and supporters of Fairmont Track & Field for a day of competition, connection, and intentional development.
The Firebird Olympics will serve as a multifaceted training and educational opportunity for our athletes and coaching staff. Throughout the day, we will use the event to teach and reinforce track meet etiquette, meet management responsibilities, and the overall structure of how a track meet operates. Athletes will gain a clear understanding of how we prepare for competition, from warm-ups and event check-ins to recovery and team responsibilities.
Participants will experience the feel of a variety of meet environments through a structured, team-based format that simulates different competitive atmospheres. This provides a valuable testing opportunity for our coaches and student-athletes to evaluate performance, assess readiness, gather measurable data, and refine systems before official competition.
In addition to the competitive and educational components, we will open the event to patrons, families, friends, and supporters of the program. Guests are invited to attend, cheer on our student-athletes, and help create a true track meet atmosphere within a strong, community-focused setting.
Ultimately, the Firebird Olympics is about building community, strengthening our program culture, teaching the next generation how to compete and carry themselves at meets, reconnecting generations of Firebirds, and supporting the continued growth and pride of Fairmont Track & Field.
We’re excited to launch this as an annual tradition that celebrates development, discipline, community, and the Firebird standard.
We will run the following competitions 600m race, 100m dash, broad jump, shot put and a 45 second test
It will be free admission to the public, but we are accepting donations to help support the general operating fund of our program!
