The Firebirds Cross Country team raced their only home meet on Saturday at Indian Riffle Park for the 43rd year of the Neal Charske Firebird Invitational, with runners on 27 high school teams. Lucy Schafer raced to 2nd place and moved up on the all-time record board to tie for 4th. Also scoring in the girls blue race were Lola Becker, Peyton Taylor, Charlotte Hardenbrook, and Abigail DelGrosso. Alanna Hawkins and Kate Mitter helped in the 6th and 7th spots. Ethan Nartowicz competed for a15th place finish and medal. Also scoring for the boys team in the blue race was Aidan Quadros, Alec Hor, Chris Schutt, and John Keeton, with Grady McMeekin and Will Stewart helping in the 6th and 7th spots, followed closely by Connor Layman by 1 second. The boys teams finished 7th behind 2 and ahead of 6 regional team competitors.
The team will race on Saturday, 9/27 at the Northmont Invitational!
